CHARLESTON, South Carolina - UNCW's pitching staff combined to strike out 16 hitters and the Seahawks took advantage of several miscues for a 6-3 win over homestanding College of Charleston on Tuesday at Patriots Point.

The Seahawks improved to 7-9 overall with their fourth consecutive win and their first road win of the season. The Cougars had a three-game winning streak halted and dropped to 12-4.

William Prince (2-1) earned the win in relief after striking out a career-high tying six batters in two innings.

CofC starter Griffin Jones (0-1) surrendered five runs, three earned, in five innings.

UNCW plated four runs in the third inning to take the lead, 4-0. Tyler Molinaro and Hunter Ridge scored the first two runs with RBI walks and a CofC error allowed the other two runs to come across.

Rob Harding singled in two runs in the bottom of the third for the Cougars to make it 4-2.

Corey Dick, who finished with two hits, singled home a run in the sixth for a 6-3 lead. The Cougars had cut their deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth on Dre Watts' single.

UNCW's final run of the contest came with two outs on a CofC error that allowed Thomas Pope to score from second for a 6-3 lead.

Tyler DeLoach struck out four and closed out the game for his first save of the season. He became the fourth different Seahawk to record a save in each of the last four victories.

UNCW returns to Colonial Athletic Association action this weekend when it visits Delaware for a three-game series that opens on Friday at 3 p.m.
