Diamond Hawks Power Past Blue Hens

NEWARK, DEL. - UNCW rode the long ball to explode for eight runs in the final three innings for a 12-4 win over Colonial Athletic Association rival Delaware on Friday at Bob Hannah Stadium.
The Seahawks improved to 4-3 in the league and 17-13 overall. The Blue Hens, meanwhile, dropped to 1-3 and 14-12.
With the game tied at 4-all after six innings, UNCW roughed up Delaware for six runs, all with two out, in the seventh inning. Freshman Michael Bass keyed the outburst with a grand slam off the scoreboard in right field off losing pitcher Brian Rorick (1-1). Earlier in the inning, Robbie Monday broke the deadlock with a RBI single through the right side.
The Seahawks added a pair of runs in the ninth on back-to-back homers to right by Cody Stanley and Monday.
UD trailed 4-1 in the fifth, but rallied to tie the game at 4-all with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Steve Ulaky blooped a single into center field with two away to tie the game.
Notes: In his last two appearances against Delaware combined, Davis has fanned 14 batters in eight innings ... Five Seahawks had at least two hits on the game ... UNCW outhit the Blue Hens, 12-11 ... The Seahawks were 7-for-15 with two outs at the plate.
