HARRISONBURG, Virginia – Zach Fisher homered twice, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs as Towson moved to the winner’s bracket final on Friday with a 13-11 win over top-seeded UNCW at Veterans Memorial Park at the Colonial Athletic Association baseball championships.

The Tigers, who opened the tournament edging Northeastern, 9-8, improved to 27-28 while the Seahawks, who must now fight through the loser’s bracket, dropped to 37-20.

Fisher fueled an offense that belted four homers on the afternoon including round trippers by Peter Bowles and Andrew Parker. The teams combined for six home runs on the afternoon as UNCW’s Tyler Molinaro slammed his 10th and 11th homers of the season.

Kyle Paul (2-4) earned the win in relief while allowing a run on four hits and a pair of walks in one-plus innings of work.

Reliever Jack Lane (2-2) was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs, all on Fisher’s grand slam in the sixth inning.

UNCW collected 18 hits with Michael Bass, Corey Dick and Matt Keeler recording three-hit games. Molinaro knocked in three and Keeler scored three runs.

Hunter Bennett had three hits for the Tigers.

The Seahawks tied their season high with a UNCW tournament record 15 runners left on base.

Up next: The Seahawks will play Friday at 3:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined later Thursday evening.

How it happened: After seeing UNCW take a 7-5 lead with four runs in the fifth, Towson fired back with four runs of its own in the sixth to take a 9-7 lead. Mat Batts walked the first two hitters to open the frame and Lane allowed an infield single. Fisher, who had one homer on the season, connected on a grand slam to right for all the scoring.

Inside the numbers: Towson landed its leadoff hitter in each inning from the fifth through eighth innings … The Tigers belted four home runs for the second straight tournament game … Seahawk pitchers allowed Towson hitters to advance runners in 16-of-20 opportunities and scored all six runners from third with less than two out … 4-of-6 walks issued by Batts came around to score.
