NEWARK, Delaware – UNCW returns to conference play with a key three-game series with Delaware beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. The Seahawks enter the series in third-place, a half-game ahead of the Blue Hens.

The Seahawks moved into third following their rain-shortened two-game sweep of Towson last weekend at Brooks Field. UNCW opened the series with an 11-2 romp behind starter Mat Batts and on Sunday, rallied from an early deficit to top the defending CAA champions, 11-8.

Batts will take the mound on Friday looking to win his fourth straight decision. The senior lefthander ranks second among active pitchers in the NCAA with 304 career strikeouts. Following Batts in the rotation will be sophomore Ryan Foster and junior Jordan Ramsey.

UNCW split a pair of midweek non-conference games. The Seahawks held off Elon on Tuesday, 10-7, and fell at NC State, 10-2, on Wednesday.

The Blue Hens improved to 18-19 on the season with a non-conference victory over Temple, which will be dropping its program following the 2014 season.

This weekend’s series will be broadcast locally in Wilmington, N.C., on AM630 and 95.9 FM. The games will also be audio streamed on UNCWsports.com. Live stat links can also be found at UNCWsports.com. Follow all weekend long on twitter @uncwbaseball.
