The Tar Heels (16-12) halted a six-game losing streak with the home win while the Seahawks fell to 12-14.

Reliever Reilly Hovis (5-1) picked up the win, hurling 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball and giving the Tar Heels a chance to take the lead.

Terence Connelly led UNCW with three hits while Corey Dick had two for UNCW.

Bolt scored twice and knocked in two runs while Adrian Chacon added two hits, a double and a home run.

How it happened: UNCW lead 2-1 into the fourth inning when the Tar Heels loaded the bases against MacDonald and Tyler Ramirez plated the tying and go-ahead runs with a single. UNC used a leadoff homer in the 6th from Chacon and a two-run homer later in the frame by Bolt to take a 6-2 lead.
