DAVIDSON, North Carolina – UNCW’s Mat Batts tied his career-high with 11 strikeouts in a complete game effort, but Davidson’s Ryan Lowe won a pitcher’s duel, 2-1, in college baseball action on Friday at Wilson Field.

The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Wildcats, who improved to 9-19. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dropped their second straight outing to fall to 21-10. It was just the second time this season UNCW has dropped back-to-back games.

Lowe (3-4) allowed just one run on six hits and five walks in seven-plus innings.

Batts (4-2) was saddled with the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and a pair of walks.

Luke Dunlap and Corey Dick had two hits apiece for UNCW with Dunlap belting his second home run of the season for UNCW’s lone run.

Andrew Barna slammed his team-leading seventh homer leading off the second for Davidson.

Michael Zeblo earned his first save of the season despite walking three in the ninth.

Next up: The series continues on Saturday at Brooks Field in Wilmington. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. Sophomore Jordan Ramsey (4-2, 1.46 ERA) gets the start for UNCW while Danny Mooney (3-3, 4.07) gets the starting nod for Davidson.

How it happened: Davidson scored once in the second on Barna’s homer to center and again in the third when Andrew Pope tripled to right to open the third and scored one batter later on a ground ball to shortstop.

UNCW threatened late in the game, loading the bases in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings, but failed to score. Twice Davidson turned double plays to end the threats.
