NORFOLK, Virginia – The Seahawks head back to conference play beginning Friday night with a 6 p.m. start at Old Dominion. It will be the final series between the two programs as members of the Colonial Athletic Association.

Both teams enter the series playing solid baseball with the Monarchs winning four of their last five and the Seahawks taking 11 of their previous 13 outings.

UNCW dropped a 10-6 decision to visiting NC State on Wednesday as the Wolfpack took advantage of four UNCW errors in the first three innings to built an 8-2 lead. The loss snapped a pair of streaks, a six-game winning streak overall and an 11-game winning streak at home.

ODU, meanwhile, battled back for a 4-3 win over Charleston Southern on Wednesday. CSU held a 3-0 lead before the Monarchs plated four runs in the ninth for the win.

Ben Verlander leads the Monarch lineup with a .443 batting average and eight home runs. ODU is hitting .281 as a team with 25 stolen bases in 34 attempts. On the mound, Dean Ali has had an impressive season with a 1-1 record and a 2.18 ERA. Ali will start Friday’s game.
