OXFORD, Mississippi - Ole Miss plated six runs over the final four innings to overcome a one-run deficit and complete a series sweep of visiting UNCW on Sunday with a 10-5 win at Swayze Field.
The Rebels, ranked 20th nationally, ran their record to 5-1 with their fourth straight victory. UNCW, meanwhile, dropped to 2-5 with its fourth consecutive setback.
Ole Miss reliever Chris Ellis (1-0) earned the win with three perfect innings of relief, retiring all nine Seahawks he faced.
Tyler McSwain (0-2) suffered the loss in relief, allowing two runs on three hits in an inning of work.
UM banged out 16 hits on the afternoon with Matt Snyder, Will Allen and Zach Kirksey all collected three hits apiece. Kirksey, who made his only start of the series, knocked in three runs on the strength of two doubles and a single.
Trailing 4-0 after one inning of play, UNCW fired back in the fifth with five runs on five hits off UM starter Mike Mayers. The big hit in the inning was a pinch hit double by Sean Buchanan that gave the Seahawks their first lead of the series at 5-4.
Ole Miss would answer in its half of the frame with a RBI single by Allen off reliever Ricky Holden, who allowed just one run in three innings out of the pen.
The Rebels would take the lead in the sixth though off McSwain. With two outs, Snyder doubled to centerfield to break the tie and score two batters later when Allen singled to center.
Auston Bousfield slammed his second homer of the season to lead off the eighth as Ole Miss capped the scoring with two runs.
