CONWAY, South Carolina - Scott Woodward, T.J. Young and Tommy LaStella had three hits apiece to power a 16-hit offense for Coastal Carolina in a 12-3 win over visiting UNCW on Tuesday at Watson Stadium.

The Chanticleers completed a sweep of the season series and improved to 35-17. UNCW, meanwhile, saw its record fall to 28-25.

Coastal Carolina broke the game open with 10 runs in the middle three innings against four Seahawk relievers. Woodward and Rich Witten fueled a pair of four-run innings with a two-run and three-run triple, respectively.

CCU starter Jim Birmingham (3-2) tossed five shutout innings in picking up his third win of the season.

Justin Bradley (3-5) took the loss for the Seahawks allowing two runs in 2 1/3 innings on five hits.

The Seahawks host VCU on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the first of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Brooks Field.
