Coastal Races Past Seahawks, 11-4

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Tommy LaStella collected three hits and scored three times as Coastal Carolina topped UNCW, 11-4, in college baseball action on Tuesday at Brooks Field.
The Chanticleers improved to 27-15 while the Seahawks dropped to 23-18.
Coastal Carolina built a 6-1 lead after three innings thanks in part to a four-run second inning that knocked UNCW losing pitcher Justin Bradley (3-3) out of the game. With two out and a run in, LaStella ignited a string of two-out RBI singles to break the game open. Daniel Bowman and Rich Witten followed LaStella with RBI singles.
Bradley last 1 2/3 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, in taking the loss.
Michael Bass paced the Seahawks with a 2-for-4 outing at the plate, both hits being doubles. He doubled in UNCW's first run of the game in the second inning and added a bases-loaded double in the ninth to narrow the deficit.
Jordan Coons (4-3) picked up the win for CCU, limiting the Seahawks to a run over five innings.
Adding two-hit games for Coastal were Bowman, who homered in the eighth, Hayes Orton, Keith Hardwick and Jacob May.
UNCW's Ryan LaGrange added two hits and scored twice coming off the bench.
The Seahawks visit James Madison for a Colonial Athletic Association series beginning on Friday.
