Bambenek Announces Fall Signing Class

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek has announced the signing of Kaitlyn Cobb (Columbia, S.C./Lexington), Meredith Peacock (Charlotte, N.C./Hickory Grove Baptist Christian School) and Victoria Phillips (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) to National Letters-of-Intent during the early signing period.

All three will join the Seahawks program as freshmen for the 2012 season.

"Overall this is the most well-round recruiting class we have seen for our program," said Bambenek. "They will be coming in at a great time as we continue our upward trend in the CAA standings."

HIGH SCHOOL: Four Year Starter at Lexington, where she guided the Wildcats to a pair of region championships and a state runner-up finish as a sophomore ... Recorded a school-record 118 total blocks and a career-high 380 kills during junior campaign ... Two-time All-Region pick ... Six-time All-Tournament Team selection ... Team MVP as a senior ... Invited to SC Coaches Association of Women's Sports Volleyball All Starr North-South Match.

CLUB: Currently playing for Magnum 18 Elite ... Guided Magnum 16 Elite to back-to-back National Championship appearances ... Three-time All-Region selection.

Bambenek on Cobb: "Kaitlyn caught our eye late in the summer during camp. She is vocal, hard-hardworking, and can flat out hammer the volleyball.  She has the drive and determination we like in our recruits and her versatility as an outside, rightside hitter, and back up setter will give her many opportunities to contribute on our team."

Bambenek on Peacock: "Meredith has really developed into a tremendous athlete and volleyball player these past few years. She is versatile enough to play at any position, but her speed, quickness, and high vertical touch will make her an unstoppable force in the middle for us.  She is a hard worker; always wanting to perfect her skills and improve her game."
