The Seahawks wrap up the non-conference portion of their 2011 schedule Tuesday with a 6 p.m. match at The Citadel
WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW volleyball team will face its final non-conference test of the 2011 season Tuesday as it faces The Citadel in a 6 p.m. match at the McAllister Field House.

The Seahawks (8-13) are back on the road after a split of their matches at Colonial Athletic Association foes Northeastern (L 3-1) and Hofstra (W 3-2) last weekend. Sophomore Christi Laite powered the UNCW attack, averaging 3.56 kills per set and a .250 hitting percentage while freshman Morgan Kline and junior Jennifer Mallard provided depth to the Seahawks lineup as the duo averaged 2.20 and 2.00 kills per set, respectively. Sophomore Courtney Porter, the Colonial Athletic Association's Defensive Player-of-the-Week, averaged a team-best 1.56 blocks per set to pace UNCW's defensive efforts.

The Bulldogs (7-11) enter Tuesday's matchup looking to snap a recent skid that has seen coach Amir Khaledi's squad fall in six of their last seven matches. Junior Kaona Mercer paces a balanced Citadel attack with a 2.90 kills per set clip average while junior Rachael Farrell (2.08) and Cassie Uribe (2.07) have both pitched in more than two kills per frame.  Junior Alexa Dahlstrom quarterbacks the attack with an 8.45 assists per set clip. Defensively, junior Emily Dalton (1.89) and senior Kathryn Johnston (1.88) highlight a Bulldogs backline that features five players with more than 90 digs this season.

Tuesday's match marks just the second meeting between the two programs. The only previous matchup came during the 2007 season at the Catamount Clash, a contest that saw the Seahawks prevail by a 3-1 margin as they took home the tournament title.

UNCW returns home after its trip to Charleston to host Georgia State Saturday in a 2 p.m. CAA matinee at Hanover Hall.
