WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW volleyball team competed in its second spring tournament of the season with an appearance in the NC State Spring Tournament on March 22.

The team finished with a 4-4 record in the one-day event, posting a pair of wins over High Point (25-17 & 25-21), splits with NC State (26-24 & 19-25) and Davidson (25-17 & 23-25) and two losses to ETSU (19-25 & 21-25).

Rising junior Meredith Peacock let the offense with 24 kills (3.0 kps) and a .288 attack percentage while fellow rising junior Victoria Phillips had a strong defensive showing with 31 digs (3.87 per set).

“We had some ups and downs today but I think we learned that our mentality and competitive edge needs to remain constant in order for us to play at a high level consistently,” said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. “We are seeing some good production among all our players, and they are gaining some meaningful in-game experiences this spring.”

UNCW continues its spring schedule with an appearance in UNC Chapel Hill’s spring tournament on April 12 before closing out the spring with a sand volleyball tournament on April 19 at Ft. Fisher in nearby Kure Beach.
