UNCW Notes (16-8; 5-5 CAA)
UNCW swept both of its matches last weekend as it defeated Towson and Delaware to improve to 8-1 at home this season … The eight home victories are the most for the Seahawks in a single season since the 1982 campaign … The Seahawks’ victory against the Blue Hens was UNCW’s first against Delaware since the 2003 season while the win against the Tigers was the program’s first since the 2010 season … Freshman Nicole Lott, named CAA Rookie-of-the-Week for the third time this season on Monday, notched 4.67 kills per set and senior Christi Laite averaged 4.17 spikes per frame to highlight a UNCW attack that averaged 16.3 kills per frame … Lott also posted a .444 hitting percentage while and junior Morgan Kline posted a .347 attack clip as UNCW posted a hitting percentage above .300 in both matches … Sophomore Meredith Peacock recorded 13 total blocks (two solo) to power a Seahawks blocking effort that averaged 3.83 blocks per frame … Peacock’s 11 block assists moved her into sole possession of fourth place on the program’s single-season block assists chart (112) … Peacock was honored at CAA Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week on Monday … The Seahawks continue to rank among the top 25 programs in the nation in both blocks (2.83/13th) and service aces (1.62/22nd) per set … Peacock also ranks high among individual players in blocks per frame, coming in fifth in the nation in that category (1.58) … UNCW completes the home portion of its 2013 schedule this weekend as it hosts Northeastern (Nov. 8) and Hofstra (Nov. 10).

With just four matches remaining on the regular season schedule, Northeastern begins the weekend holding a two-match lead over William & Mary for second place in the league standings … Senior Kelly Bacon powers a balanced Huskies lineup that ranks third in the league in kills per set (12.78) with a 3.38 kills per frame clip, good for third in the league in that category … Junior Natalia Skiba continues to shore up the team’s defensive efforts, leading the CAA and ranking fifth in the nation in digs per frame (5.81) … Friday’s match will serve as the 15th meeting between the two programs … The Huskies have all 14 previous meetings, including a 3-0 sweep of the Seahawks Sept. 28 in Boston.
Hofstra (15-11; 5-5 CAA)
In the midst of a four-match road trip, Hofstra looks to return to the win column this weekend after opening its road swing with setbacks at James Madison and William & Mary last weekend … Junior Kelsie Wills remains the most feared hitter in the Colonial Athletic Association, averaging a league-best 4.32 kills per frame to rank 21st in the nation in that category …Defensively, freshman Sophia Black sits seventh in the league in digs per frame (3.36) while junior Nuria Lopes da Silva is sixth in blocks … Sunday’s matchup marks the 24th meeting between the two programs … The Pride have won four straight against the Seahawks, including a 3-1 victory on Sept. 27 in Hempstead, N.Y. … UNCW’s last win in the series came in a 3-2 victory at Hofstra on Oct. 11, 2011.
