Averaged 2.53 kills per set and posted a .337 hitting percentage in four matches last week … Named MVP of the Winthrop Invitational, averaging 3.30 kills per set and 2.4 digs per set in leading the Seahawks to a 3-0 record at the event …  Also fashioned a .463 hitting percentage during the tournament, committing just two errors in 67 total attempts … Notched season-high 13 kills in 3-0 sweep of The Citadel … pitched in season-best 12 digs at Campbell … Tallied 11 spikes without an error against Winthrop.

UNCW Notes (11-3; 0-0 CAA)

UNCW posted a 3-1 record last week, falling to in-state rival Campbell (3-2) in midweek action before claiming its second tournament title of the season with a sweep of its matches at the Winthrop Invitational … The Seahawks defeated Bethune-Cookman (3-0), The Citadel (3-0) and host Winthrop (3-1) to claim the tournament crown … Freshman Nicole Lott was named Tournament MVP, becoming the third Seahawk (Christi Laite & Morgan Kline) to garner Tournament MVP accolades this season … Lott averaged 3.30 kills per set and fashioned a .463 hitting percentage as she committed just two attack errors in 67 total attempts … She was named CAA Rookie-of-the-Week for the second week in a row for her efforts … Senior Christi Laite and freshman Alyssa Desjardins joined Lott on the All-Tournament Team … Laite has now been named to the All-Tournament Team in all four events the Seahawks have played in this season while Desjardins earned MVP honors for the first time in her career … Laite enters play this week with 985 career kills, needing just 15 more spikes to become just the sixth player in school history with 1,000 career kills … UNCW opens Colonial Athletic Association play this week with a pair of road matches at Hofstra and Northeastern.

Like UNCW, defending CAA Champion Hofstra enters conference play coming off a tournament victory, capturing the Temple Invitational last weekend with victories over Delaware State and Temple … The Pride are 7-0 at home this season, having swept both of its regular-season tournaments at the Mack Physical Education Building … Junior Kelsie Wilis, who leads the CAA in kills per set (4.44), was named MVP of the Temple Invitational weekend as she picked top tournament honors for the third time this season … Sara Campolina highlight’s the Pride’s defensive efforts, ranking fourth in the league in blocks per frame (1.14).

Northeastern (7-6; 0-0 CAA)

Northeastern begins conference play looking to extend 22 match winning streak at Solomon court that dates back to the 2011 season …Reigning CAA Player-of-the-Year Kelly Bacon paces a potent Huskies attack with 193 kills … The senior outside hitter was named CAA Offensive Player-of-the-Week on Monday after tallying 44 spikes and 39 digs in leading NU to victories over regional rivals Boston College, Harvard and St. John’s … Junior Natalia Skiba highlights the team’s defensive efforts, leading the CAA and ranking third in the nation in digs per set (6.09).
