WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Junior Morgan Kline and freshman Nicole Lott were recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association on Monday for their efforts in leading UNCW to a 4-0 weekend in the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire UNCW Volleyball Classic last weekend.

Kline was named Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week along with Hofstra's Kelsie Wilis while Lott garnered Rookie-of-the-Week accolades.

“It’s so exciting to see multiple players recognized for their efforts,” said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. “Although these awards recognize individual success, our team knows that everyone played a huge part in our 4-0 weekend.”

A native of Yorktown, Va., Kline was named MVP of the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire UNCW Volleyball Classic as she averaged 3.61 kills and 3.00 digs per set. She also posted a .376 hitting percentage, committing just nine errors in 101 attack attempts, to lead Seahawks lineup that combined for a .241 attack clip on the weekend.

Kline opened the tournament with six kills and a .545 hitting percentage against North Carolina A&T and followed that performance with 16 kills and 18 digs for her first double-double of the season versus UNC Asheville. She then recorded a season-high 19 kills in 3-1 victory over Western Carolina and ended the weekend by posting a team-high six spikes in a sweep of Mercer.

Lott, meanwhile, averaged 2.18 kills and 1.90 digs per set during the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire UNCW Volleyball Classic. The West Chester, Pa., product recorded a season-high 10 kills and hit .226 against Western Carolina and also tallied team-best eight digs in the Seahawks victory over Mercer.

“Morgan was the best I have ever seen her and she executed in key moments this weekend,” said Bambenek. “Nicole is gaining confidence in her attacking on the court and it showed in her performance.”
