Seahawks, 49ers Suspend Tennis Match

Release: 03/24/2012 CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Inclement weather in the Queen City forced postponement of the UNCW-UNC Charlotte women's tennis match Saturday at UNCC's Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. The Seahawks and 49ers were tied at 1-all when the match was halted because of severe weather in the area. UNCC won the doubles point following victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. UNCW's top doubles team of Christina Lee and Alyssa Ritchie beat UNCC's Alexandra Zinn and Andrea Rivera, 8-2, but UNCC's Lisa Grosselius and Anna Ekeland edged Angie Sekely and Kelly Cameron, 8-6, at No. 2 and Natsuko Takayanagi and Dominica Nemec squeezed past Olga Blank and Casey Dashiell, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles. UNCW has seven matches remaining in the regular season, including a 10 a.m. match early Sunday against Appalachian State. |
