WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men’s tennis team racked up a sparkling 11-1 record on the opening day of the Seahawk Invitational Friday at the UNCW courts.
Coach Mait DuBois and his club dominated play on the first of three days against opponents from Davidson, Richmond and Tulane. No brackets are being used in the event, with the teams playing a doubles and singles opponent each day.
“It’s the first time we have been able to compete at home this fall semester and we always enjoy it,” said DuBois. “The format we’re using for this event has all of our players on the court at once, somewhat simulating a spring dual match. It’s what our team enjoys the most and it’s a great way to finish our fall season. Our players responded well for the first day and I am looking forward to some very good tennis for tomorrow.”
Action continues Saturday with singles and doubles matches throughout the day. Admission is free.
