Aita Falls In Singles At UVa Ranked+1

Release: 09/23/2012 WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Virginia's Ryan Shane slipped past UNCW's Rafael Aita, 7-5, 6-4, to win the championship of the White singles draw Sunday as the Virginia Ranked+1 Men's Tennis Invitational drew to a close at the Snyder Tennis Center. Shane, a freshman from Falls Church, Va., outlasted the 55th-ranked Aita in the first set and then held on for the straight set victory. In another singles match played Sunday, Mississippi's William Kallberg, the No. 2 seed, upended Chris Cooprider of UNCW, 7-6 (0), 6-4, in the Blue singles bracket. The Seahawks make their third appearance of the fall season on Oct. 12-14 when they take part in the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. |
