WILMINGTON, North Carolina - On the eve of a clash against 57th-ranked Cornell of the Ivy League, the UNCW men's tennis team has matched its highest ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll and had one of its doubles teams honored by the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
The Seahawks, who face the Big Red at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, carry a 12-4 record into the matchup at the UNCW courts. Cornell stands 16-3 this spring.
Senior Kinshuk Sharma and sophomore Chris Cooprider, meanwhile, have been named the CAA's Doubles Team-of-the-Week after going 3-0 in matches last week. The tandem cruised past Yale's Marc Powers and Daniel Hoffman, edged Old Dominion's Tobias Fanselow and Krzysztof Muzalewski and slipped past Georgia State's Thomas Cook and Victor Valente. Sharma and Cooprider hiked their record to 9-3 and own a six-match winning streak
"Chris and Kinshuk have been very consistent for us and have shown excellent chemistry together," said fourth-year coach Mait DuBois. "They both have been working very hard and had wins over some very quality teams this past week. I am pleased to see that they are being recognized."
