WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Seahawk men’s tennis team closed out the UNCW Invitational Sunday by winning three of the six flights at Empie Park’s Althea Gibson Tennis Center.

Playing in ideal conditions, the 14th-ranked tandem of Rafael Aita and Sam Williams captured the A Doubles bracket and junior Zach Hublitz and sophomore Santtu Leskinen claimed championships in the B Singles and C Singles draws.

Aita and Williams went 4-0 and surrendered only six games in dominating the A Doubles draw over the three-day period. The pair thumped Hublitz and Leskinen, 8-2, early Sunday in an all-UNCW final on Court 1.

In B Singles, Hublitz sailed past Liberty’s Dillon Segur, 6-4, 6-1, immediately after playing the doubles finale.

Leskinen also wasted no time in winning C Singles, taking down VCU’s Jacob Svensson, 6-1, 6-0, in easy fashion.

In other action, UNCW freshman Karan Salwan won the back draw of C Singles by edging Liberty’s Guillem Secanell, 7-5, 7-5.

The Seahawks next compete during the weekend of Sept. 20-22 when selected players will participate in the U.Va. Ranked Plus One Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., and the Ivy Plus Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
