JONESBORO, TENN. - Junior Josh Brock continued his strong play in the second round of the
Bank of Tennessee at The Ridges tournament on Saturday and enters the final
round on Sunday in a tie for second and a chance to win his first tournament of
the fall.
Brock
(69-70=139) carded a two-under round of 70 and enters Sunday just three strokes
behind Oregon State's Diego Velasquez, who entered the
tournament ranked 16th nationally according to Golfstat.com. After posting five
birdies on Friday, Brock collected just two on Saturday, but did not bogey a
single hole.
The
Seahawks are in eight-place, two strokes behind host East Tennessee and three
behind sixth-place Wake
Forest. Tennessee
and Oregon State
are tied for the lead, both at nine-under, and hold a five-stroke lead over third-place
Virginia.
Junior
Ryan Sullivan (71-73=144) dropped back into a five-way tie for 20th overall
despite finishing the second round just one-over-par at 73.
Senior
Derek Wallace (78-73=151) jumped from 70th into a tie for 54th when he
rebounded from his worst round of the fall with a one-over-par 73 in the second
round.
Sophomore
Taylor Zimmerman (75-77=152) and freshman Stefan Brewer (75-77=152) are tied
for 56th overall and carding identical scores of 77 in the second round. Brewer
entered the final three holes at two-over, but double-bogeyed the 16th hole and
bogeyed 18 to finish five-over.
The
Seahawks will kickoff the final round on Sunday with Brewer opening play with
an 8:30 a.m. tee-off.
