MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – Senior Payne McLeod posted his first top-5 finish since the fall and second of the 2013-14 season for UNCW as the Seahawks finished 11th at the General Hackler Championship at TPC of Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.

McLeod opened the day tied for second, but struggled with five bogeys in the third and final round of the tournament. The course played to an average score of 76.84 in the final 18 holes of the tournament.

Middle Tennessee State rallied past 23rd-ranked Kent State for the team title, edging the defending co-champions by two strokes.

Corey Conners of Kent State and Andrew Dorn of Coastal Carolina tied for medalist honors, while Taylor Pendrith finished two strokes back for Kent State.

The Seahawks next host the UNCW Invitational on Mar. 16-17 at CC of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
