LORTON, Virginia – UNCW’s Ryan Nagy advanced to the match play portion of the United States Amateur Public Links Championship on Wednesday at the Lorton Hill Golf Club.

Nagy (72-72=144) finished the opening two rounds in a tie for 49th to advance to the match play rounds. In the opening round he recorded 13 pars as he played one of his most consistent rounds of the year. Round two he was able to overcome four bogeys with an impressive five birdies and eight pars.

Nagy, a rising senior, opens match play with a 9:40 a.m. start against Sam Saunders (Albuquerque, N.M.), who finished tied for 13th after opening his tournament with a four-under-par 66.
