WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW's Thomas Bass and Head Coach Matt Clark havev been named Colonial Athletic Association Player and Coach-of-the-Year for the 2011-12 year in a vote of the league's coaches.

Joining Bass on the conference's first team was sophomore Payne McLeod.

Bass led the Seahawks with a 73.19 stroke average in his junior season and posted four top-eight finishes, also tops on the team. He totaled eight top-20 finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the CAA Championships earlier this month. Bass was a second-team honoree in 2010-11.

Bass joined former UNCW standouts Josh Brock (2011), Sean Dougherty (2001) and Chris Buffaloe (1993) in being named CAA Player-of-the-Year.

For Clark, it's the second consecutive year he's been honored as the league's coach of the year. UNCW captured its second straight conference tournament crown and third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. Overall, Clark has been named CAA Coach-of-the-Year three times, including once while at Georgia State.

McLeod, who was the 2010-11 CAA Rookie-of-the-Year, earned First-Team All-CAA honors for the second year in a row. McLeod finished with a 73.22 stroke average and posted three top-10 finishes as a sophomore. His best finish was an eighth-place standing at the CAA Championships.

Next up for the Seahawks is the Athens Regional, May 17-19, in Athens, Georgia, on the campus of the University of Georgia.
