BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - Fueled by strong second rounds, UNCW's Payne McLeod and Thomas Bass moved into ties for eight and 10th overall, respectively, after two rounds at the LSU National Invitational on Saturday at the University Club.

The Seahawks rallied from a sluggish start to move into sole possession of eighth place, four strokes up on 27th-ranked Chattanooga.

Iowa leads the 12-team field by a stroke over second-place LSU.

Minnesota's Erik Van Rooyen (69-69=138) also holds a one-stroke lead on Iowa's Ian Vandersee (69-70=139).

UNCW combined to card a 295 in the second round, shaving 10 strokes off its opening total of 305. Leading the charge was Bass (77-67=144) who finished five-under for the round with a total of 67. McLeod (73-70=143) was close behind Bass with a two-under 70 in the second round.

Stefan Brewer (76-77=153) is tied for 43rd while Ryan Nagy (79-81=160) and Patrick Sawrey (84-81=165) are 58th and 64th, respectively.

The tournament concludes on Sunday with the final 18 holes.
