Bandon Dunes
Championship (Bandon, Ore.)
WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The Seahawks return to the west coast for the Band Dunes Championship hosted by Gonzaga this weekend, beginning on Mar. 8. UNCW is looking to wash away the bad taste of an eighth-place finish at the Del Walker in late February in Long Beach, Calif. At the Del Walker, junior Payne McLeod led the Seahawks with a 24th-place finish while Thomas Bass and Dylan Harris tied for 35th overall. For Harris, it was his season debut. Stefan Brewer and Ryan Nagy finished 38th and 43rd, respectively. Jumping into the Seahawk lineup this tournament is junior Josh Woodfox, who tied for 33rd at the Del Walker, playing as an individual. Washington boasts a pair of top-10 players in Cheng-Tsung Pan (third) and Trevor Simsby (eighth) and UCLA's Pontus Widegren is 11th nationally. The field is a strong as Washington and UCLA are ranked fourth and sixth, respectively, by Golfweek, while Oregon checks in at 49. "This is another strong tournament and one that we're looking forward to competing in," said UNCW Head Coach Matt Clark. "Things didn't go well in the opener and we want to put that behind us. We've done a good job in the past in learning from mistakes and progressing." |
