Winners of five of its last six contests, Coastal Carolina (22-10) looks to continue its winning ways after taking two of three games during a Big South Conference series at Campbell last weekend. Sophomore Bri Chiusano leads the Chanticleer lineup with a .429 batting average while junior Kory Hayden ranks among the top 20 players in the nation in both home runs (13/4th) and runs batted in (38/16th). Pitcher Kiana Quolas has been dominant in the circle during her junior campaign, boasting a 0.84 earned run average that is seventh in the nation while also recording 113 strikeouts in 125.2 innings pitched.

Wednesday’s doubleheader marks the 28th consecutive season that UNCW and Coastal Carolina have met on the diamond. The Chanticleers hold a 68-23 advantage in the all-time series and carry an eight-game winning streak versus the Seahawks into Wednesday’s matchup. UNCW’s last victory over Coastal Carolina came in a 9-6 victory at Boseman Field on March 10, 2010.

UNCW returns to action this weekend as it travels to defending regular season and tournament champion Hofstra for a three-game league series.
