Detroit would respond with four runs in the top of the second, using a run scoring single from junior Karyn Mccarty to open the scoring before an error and a wild pitch brought home the final three runs of the frame.
UNCW would tie the game in the bottom half of the frame, however, plating three runs on two-out base knocks from McCann, Buckworth junior KC Shue to make it a 4-4 game.
The two sides would remain tied until the top of the sixth, when Detroit would use a leadoff home run from sophomore Sam Henderson and three UNCW errors later in the frame to build an 8-4 cushion. The Titans tacked on two additional runs in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch and RBI single by junior Katelyn Steffel to make it 10-4 and close out the scoring.
