The Seahawks (7-36; 2-10 CAA) return to the diamond after falling in both games of a midweek doubleheader at in-state foe Campbell on Wednesday.
Junior Lauryn Buckworth recorded two hits in the twin bill with the Camels to raise her team-leading batting average to .297 while senior Ashley Shingleton recorded her fourth home run of the season in the nightcap to lift her hit total to a team-high 33.
Senior Amanda Davenport allowed just one run in six innings of work versus Campbell to lower her ERA to 2.79. Davenport and freshman Casey Rowland combined to strike out 16 batters in Wednesday's doubleheader to give both players 98 strikeouts for the season, tying them for third in the CAA in that category.
Drexel (19-20; 3-8 CAA) enter the weekend looking to halt a losing streak that extended to five games during the week with setbacks to non-conference foes Penn and Iona. Junior Jenn Reading paces Head Coach Kim Camara's squad with a .336 batting average and a team-high eight home runs while senior Paige Collings leads the team in hits (39) and ranks fourth in the league in RBI (34).
In the circle, Allen and Taylor have combined to pitch all but 31.2 of the team's 246.2 innings in the field this season and have teamed up to record a 3.71 ERA, 18 complete games, five shutouts and 151 strikeouts.
After its visit to the city of Brotherly Love, UNCW returns to the friendly confines of Boseman Field to open a five-game home stand Wednesday with a 4 p.m. non-conference doubleheader against Coastal Carolina.
