WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW softball team continues its eight-game road trip Wednesday with a visit to Campbell for a non-conference doubleheader at the Eakes Athletic Complex.

The Seahawks (7-34) return to road Wednesday after taking one of three games at Towson in Colonial Athletic Association play last weekend.
Junior Lauryn Buckworth had a solid weekend at the plate against the Tigers, finished with six hits and four RBI in nine plate appearances to propel herself to the top of the team standings with a .292 batting average and 10 RBI. Senior Ashley Shingleton also provided an offensive spark with five hits in 10 trips to the dish against the Tigers to move her team-leading hit total to 32.
Senior Amanda Davenport posted a 1.08 ERA in 13.0 innings in the circle against Towson and picked up her team-leading sixth win of the season with a four-hit shutout of the Tigers in the series opener. She continues to lead UNCW in appearances (29), complete games (17), shutouts (3), innings pitched (162.0) and strikeouts (91).
Campbell (21-24) begins a week-long home stand Wednesday looking to halt a stretch that has seen the Camels fall in four of their last five outings, including the final two games of their series at Big South member Charleston Southern last weekend.
Freshman Erika Nesbitt leads the attack for coach Drew Peterson's squad with a .369 batting average and 48 hits while fellow rookie Stephanie Jones has driven in a team-best 31 runs and to go along with her 44 hits thus far.
In the circle, the Camels have relied upon a quartet of arms this season as senior Christina Melton, junior Brittany Arnn, sophomore Olivia Scarborough and freshman Julia Callicutt have all pitched more than 50 innings this season. Together, the Campbell pitching staff has combined to post a 2.93 ERA, 25 complete games, four shutouts and 181 strikeouts in 287.0 innings pitched.
Campbell holds a 44-23 advantage over UNCW in the all-time series and has won three straight, including a 2-0 extra-innings victory over the Seahawks at the Winthrop Invitational in March.
The two sides split their last doubleheader in Buies Creek, with the Camels posting an 8-0 victory in the opener, only to see the Seahawks rally for a 3-2 victory in the nightcap of the twin bill that served as the 2010 opener for both programs.
UNCW concludes its eight-game road swing this weekend as it travels to Philadelphia for a CAA series with Drexel. The two teams open their three-game set Saturday with an 11 a.m. doubleheader before closing out the series Sunday with an 11 a.m. contest.
