UNCW (17-22) heads back on the road on Wednesday after a week-long hiatus following a mid-week doubleheader at UNCG April 9. Senior Brittany Gamby remains the team’s leader at the plate with a .308 batting average, 33 hits and 25 runs scored while fellow senior Casey Shue and freshman Nella Chamblee are tied for the team lead with 21 RBI each. Junior Casey Rowland continues to pace the UNCW pitching staff with a 2.45 earned run average, nine complete games and 126 strikeouts in 131.1 innings pitched.

NC State (26-11) is back home after splitting a pair of road contests against Florida A&M (W 8-0) and No. 6 Florida (L 10-0) last weekend. Junior Renada Davis highlights a potent Wolfpack attack that boasts a combined .278 batting average with 39 hits, including 10 home runs, while senior Kristy Grant is second with a .345 average and is a perfect 14-for-14 in stolen base attempts. In the circle, junior Emily Weiman has served as the workhorse of the NCSU staff with a 22-9 record, 10 shutouts and 181 strikeouts in 185.0 innings pitched.

Wednesday’s twinbill will serve as the first meeting between UNCW and NC State since the 2010 season. The two teams have split their previous six matchups, all of which have come since the 2004 season. The Wolfpack recorded a doubleheader sweep of the Seahawks in their most recent meeting on April 21, 2010 at Boseman Field.

UNCW returns home this weekend as it hosts College of Charleston in a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Boseman Field. The two teams will play a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and 1 p.m. contest on Easter Sunday
