WILMINGTON, North CarolinaBrent Campbell won the men’s Long Jump for UNCW and Kelsey Turner and Tatyana Brewton tied for first in the women’s to lead the Seahawks on the opening day of the Seahawk Invitational at the Greene Track and Field Complex.

Campbell used a mark of 23-10.25 feet on his second attempt to win the event. Teammate Aerial Chatman placed third with a mark of 23-3.50.

Both Turner and Brewton jumped 18-3.75 feet with both achieving that mark on their second attempts.

In other top-3 finishes for the Seahawks, Haley Kapheim placed third in the 5,000 meters and Valerie Afam was third in the women’s Long Jump.

The Seahawk women have the early lead in the meet while the men are second to North Dakota.

The meet concludes on Saturday.
