WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW visits Charleston, South Carolina, this Friday when it competes in the Palmetto Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston.

The Seahawk men opened their outdoor season last weekend with a dual meet setback to rival Coastal Carolina at the ninth annual Battle of the Beaches in Conway, S.C. UNCW captured eight events in the meet.

Junior Cody Love captured the 400 Hurdles in his Seahawk outdoor debut with a time of 53.45 seconds and breaking into UNCW’s all-time top-10, ranking eighth.

Also winning individual events were sophomore Brandon McLean (200 meters), senior Andy Jung (Pole Vault) and sophomore Trey Jones (Long Jump).

The Seahawk women ran last week, but not in a competitive meet.

UNCW will host the first of two meets this spring when it hosts the UNCW Seahawk Invitational on March 14-15 at the Greene Track & Field Complex.
