WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW heads up I40 to compete in the Dick Taylor UNC Challenge on Thursday as the Seahawks open their indoor season with the first of four indoor meets.

The Seahawks return three athletes who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Regionals last spring. Seniors Meena Reid and Aerial Chatman both qualified and were joined by junior Cam Walton. All three were also Colonial Athletic Association champions.

Reid enters her final indoor season with the Teal and Blue as the program’s record holder in the 55 and 60 meters as well as the 200 meters. Chatman, meanwhile, is second all-time in the Triple Jump and fourth in the Long Jump. Walton is sixth in the Long Jump and fifth in the Triple Jump.

Junior Hailey Blackburn made an impact as a sophomore, recording the program's second fastest time in the 60 meters with a mark of 7.52 at the Penn State Challenge. She’ll compete in the 60 meters along with Reid.

Chatman will compete in the Triple Jump along with Walton.

The meet will have a Carolina flavor as the Seahawks will compete against Duke, East Carolina, Western Carolina and the host Tar Heels during the two-day event.

The Seahawks return to action on Jan. 31, when they compete in the Hilton Garden Invitational, hosted by Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C.
