Boulay Sets Mark, Beaches Sweep Meet

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW senior Becky Boulay set a school record in the 800 meters and the Seahawks teamed with East Carolina to lead the Beaches team past the Mountains (Western Carolina, Appalachian State) for the first time in the four-year history of the meet.
Boulay finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.92, besting the previous mark of 2:13.65, set by April Sauer in 1997.
UNCW posted a combined eight event wins with senior Wil Zahorodny pacing the program with wins in the 1500 and 3000 meters with times of 3:50.41 and 8:47.65, respectively.
On the women's side, sophomore Krista Mangum won the 100 meter Hurdles (14.24) while freshman Clarissa Perkins and senior Johnique Fonville were first in the Discus Throw and Triple Jump, respectively. Perkins used a throw of 44.63 meters in winning and Fonville jumped 11.84 meters.
In the 400 meters, Anthony Colon paced the field with a time of 53.73.
Rounding out UNCW's winners was freshman Cameron Walton in the Long Jump with a distance of 7.36 meters.
Next for the Seahawks is an appearance at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., on April 6-7.
