WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior Meena Reid and junior Cam Walton were honored by the Colonial Athletic Association as the women’s track and men’s field athletes of the week, respectively, following strong showings at the Bill Carson Invitational over the weekend.
Reid competed in both the 200 meters and ran a leg of the Seahawks’ 4x100 relay that finished third with a time of 46.13 seconds, UNCW’s top in the event this season. In the 200 meters she placed fifth with a season-best time of 24.30.
Walton, meanwhile, took fourth in the Triple Jump with mark of 47-3 feet, also a season-best for him and second best on the team this spring.
The Seahawks return to action this weekend when they compete at the Charlotte Invitational. UNCW has three athletes in the top 35 of the East Region. Cody Love ranks 11th in the 400 Hurdles after posting a career-best time of 51.95 last weekend at the Bill Carson Invitational. Also on the men’s side, senior Aerial Chatman is 32nd in the Triple Jump with a distance of 49-8.50 feet. Freshman Margaret Edwards, meanwhile, is tied for 24th in the women’s East Region in the High Jump with a mark of 5-8.75.
