WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Seahawks compete this weekend in the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup, hosted by Penn State, this weekend in University Park, Pa. It is UNCW’s third of four indoor meets this season.

Joining the Seahawks and Nittany Lions are Binghamton, Buffalo, UConn, James Madison, Liberty, Penn and Princeton. All events will take place in the Ashenfelter Indoor Track.

UNCW competed in the Hilton Garden Invitational last weekend at the JDL FastTrack in Winston-Salem, N.C. Senior Meena Reid finished third in the 60-meter finals to head up the Seahawks. The men’s 4x400 Relay of Cody Love, Trip Foreman, Kyle McLendon and Jamar Collins-Hall, fashioned a second-place finish with a time of 3:22.87.

Reid, who has competed in the 60 meters in both meets thus far, will run in the 200 meters for the first time this indoor season. She set the program record with a time of 24.01 seconds last season. Joining Reid in the 60 and 200 events will be freshman Gabriella Robinson, who owns the team’s top time in the 200 meters with a mark of 26.23, set last weekend in Winston-Salem.

In his second career meet, freshman Vincent Ragland reached the finals of the 60-meter Hurdles last weekend in Winston Salem. He reached the finals with a team-best time of 8.35 in the semifinals. He will compete in the 60m Hurdles as well as the 60-meters.

Junior Andy Jung set a personal record last weekend and finished fifth with a vault of 14-11 feet. He will look to improve that mark this weekend.

UNCW will take next weekend off from competition before closing out the indoor season with the Virginia Tech Invitational on Feb. 21-22 in Blacksburg, Va.
