Track Preview: Va. Tech Invitational

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The Seahawks close out their indoor schedule this weekend when they compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.

UNCW has fashioned a strong indoor season with five schools record falling, including the women's 60 and 200 meter marks by junior Meena Reid.

Reid competed in the Invitational 60 meters last weekend at Clemson and finished fifth. While Reid was competing in the invitational race, sophomore Hailey Blackburn captured her first race when she ran 7.52 in the finals of the 60 meters.

Adding event wins for UNCW were senior David Lindsay in the 60 meter hurdles and junior Aerial Chatman in the Triple Jump.

Competing this weekend will be athletes from the following schools, Bowie State, Concord, Cumberlands, Duke, Elon, George Mason, James Madison, Lee University, Liberty, Radford, Roanoke, St. Augustine's, UNC Wilmington, Wake Forest, Washington & Lee, William & Mary and Winston-Salem State.

Following this weekend's competition, the Seahawks will have off until Mar. 3, when they host the eighth-annual Battle of the Beaches meet at the Greene Track & Field Complex.
