WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - Head Coach Jim Sprecher and his Seahawks make their indoor debut
this weekend when they compete in the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason in
Fairfax, Va.
The Seahawks will participate in four indoor events this
season before heading outside and opening their outdoor season in early March.
Making their way to Fairfax this weekend are veterans
Maleena Reid, Krista Mangum, Erin McDaniel and Clarissa Perkins for the Seahawk
women and David Lindsay, Trip Foreman, Jeremy Johnson and Aerial Chatman for
the men.
Reid and Mangum hold the school records in the 60 meters and
60 meter hurdles, respectively.
The Seahawks will send a contingent of 58 athletes on the
trip, including 16 freshmen who will make the collegiate debuts.
Joining the Seahawks in competing at the event are American,
Coastal Carolina (women), Delaware State, George Washington, Howard, James
Madison (women), Mount St. Mary's, Navy (women), Richmond, UMBC and VCU.
UNCW continues its indoor season on Feb. 2 with the Sykes
& Sabock Challenge Cup, host by Penn State.
