WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW freshman Jacob VanCompernolle notched his second goal of the season, but Campbell erased a 1-0 halftime deficit with four second half goals to upend the Seahawks, 4-2, in men's college soccer action on Thursday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Camels (1-0-1) halted a brief two-game losing streak to the Seahawks with the road win while UNCW dropped to 0-2 following the home-opening loss.

Trailing 1-0 midway through the second half, J.J. Elder notched his first two goals of the season to fuel a three-goal in 4:33 span for Campbell. Aleksi Tossavainen added a goal in the outburst that snapped a 1- all deadlock early in the 75th minute.

Elder's final goal in the 76th minute would prove to be the difference as UNCW's Thomas Driver headed home a cross from freshman Matt Feigler in the 81st minute to narrow the deficit to 3-2.

Keegan Terry would restore CU's two-goal advantage, 4-2, with 4:18 left in the contest.

VanCompernolle's strike came in the 18th minute on a header off a cross from senior Daniel Roberts.

UNCW held a 14-13 advantage in shots, but CU goalkeeper Ethan Hall finished with six saves, including several that kept it a one-goal contest for the Camels.

The Seahawks return to action on Sept. 4, with a road match against #23 Charlotte.
