WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Behind the strong play of its back line and between the pipes, UNCW finished the season as the top defensive team in the Colonial Athletic Association for the second straight season, posting a 0.68 goals against average.

The Seahawks edged CAA regular season and tournament champion William & Mary by .01 of a goal.

Nationally the Seahawks ranked ninth, also marking the second consecutive year that they finished in the top-10.

UNCW will need to replace several members of that strong defense as Indy Smith and Brock Duckworth have finished their eligibility and look to move into the professional ranks.

Smith, a four-year starter at center back, will participate in the upcoming MLS SuperDraft combined while Duckworth recently attended the USL combine in Charleston, S.C. Duckworth concluded his career as UNCW's all-time leader in goals against average (1.07) and second in shutouts (24).
