WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW looks to get the ship righted tonight when they visit VCU Wednesday for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Sports Backers Stadium.
The Seahawks have posted scoreless draws in their last two outings and have yet to find the back of the since Etienne Boulanger's game-winner over then 25th-ranked James Madison. During that span, UNCW has fashioned a 0-1-2 mark and is tied with Old Dominion with 11 points. VCU and Northeastern are tied for the fourth and final tournament spot with nine points apiece.
While the offense looks to get in gear, UNCW's defense continues to shine and be the staple of the program. The Seahawks are second to Old Dominion in goals against average and rank 15th nationally with a 0.59 GAA. Both Brock Duckworth (0.58) and Brandon Miller (0.62) own goals against averages under one per game. In Miller's last start, he made a career-high 12 saves in a draw with Northeastern.
UNCW returns to the UNCW Soccer Stadium on Saturday for the regular season home finale against scoring-machine Towson. The Tigers boast two of the top offensive strikers in the conference in Marco Mangione (9g+7A) and Olakunle Banjo (7g+2a). Game time for the match is 7 p.m. There will be a ceremony prior to kickoff as UNCW honors its 12 seniors.
