BROOKLINE, Massachusetts - Junior Brandon Miller made a career-high 12 saves but UNCW failed to get on the board for the third straight game as the Seahawks battled Northeastern to a scoreless double-overtime draw on Saturday at Parsons Field.
The Seahawks ran their Colonial Athletic Association mark to 3-1-2 and overall to 7-4-2. The Huskies, who were looking to avenge their loss to UNCW in the 2009 CAA Championship game, moved to 2-1-3 in conference play and 4-5-3 overall.
"We gained a valuable point on the road," said UNCW Head Coach Aidan Heaney. "In this league every point is fought for and needed. Brandon was tremendous tonight, but we'll need to start finishing our chances."
Miller, who was making his third start of the season, doubled
his previous career-high of six set on Oct. 15, 2008, against VCU. The 12 saves
were the most since Brock Duckworth made 10 against Duke on Sept. 22, 2009.
The Seahawks visit VCU on Oct. 20 for a 7 p.m. start.
