WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Nazmi Albadawi assisted on a pair of first half goals for NC State as the Wolfpack built a 2-0 lead at the intermission on its way to a 3-1 win over host UNCW in a men's soccer exhibition match on Saturday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

NC State, playing its lone exhibition match of the preseason, jumped in front in the 25th minute when Monbo Bokar beat an offsides trap by the Seahawk backline. Bokar received a short through pass from Albadawi and broke into the penalty area one-on-one with UNCW goalkeeper Brandon Bolen, slipping a shot inside the left post for the 1-0 advantage.

Alex Martinez doubled the NCSU lead with a goal in the 38th minute. Martinez cut into the penalty area where he was on the end of a crisp pass from Albadawi and beat Bolden from 12 yards out.

The Seahawks had opportunities in the first half to take the lead or tie the game, but NCSU goalkeeper Fabian Otte, the first of three keepers to see action for the Wolfpack, made a pair of saves to keep the Seahawks off the board. In the 12th minute, he stonewalled UNCW's Ettiene Boulanger one-on-one and in the 32nd minute, he made a diving save on a driven shot by freshman Colin Bonner.

NC State pushed its lead to 3-0 in the 78th minute when Robert Beatty beat UNCW freshman Sam Williams inside the far right post from 18 yards out. Beatty collected a loose ball at the top left of the penalty area and delivered a low, curling shot that banged off the post and into the goal.

Freshman Joel Perrell notched UNCW's only goal of the evening off an assists from Michael Parrish in the 86th minute. Parrish sent a pass to Perrell on the right flank where he settled the ball and sent his shot under the crossbar to make it 3-1.

UNCW matched the Wolfpack in shots with 12 apiece and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Seahawks open the regular season on Aug. 24, when they host in-state rival UNC Greensboro at 7 p.m. The Spartans were picked to finish third in the Southern Conference behind reigning champ Furman and College of Charleston. The Seahawks will play both of those teams in early September at the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
