WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW sophomore Jeff Laliberte was named Colonial Athletic Association swimmer-of-the-week after a pair of standout performances at the Virginia Tech Invitational last weekend.
Laliberte is the second UNCW swimmer to earn the award, joining junior standout Valtteri Halonen, who has been honored on five different occasions.
Laliberte won the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:50.64, the fastest in the CAA this season and sixth fastest in UNCW history. He later finished second in the 100 Fly, touching the wall in a time of 50.12 seconds. That time was a career best for the North Providence, R.I., native.
The Seahawks continue their preparations for the conference championship, which will be held in College Park, Md., Feb. 26-Mar. 1.
