WILMINGTON, North Carolina –UNCW junior Lori Beth Adams was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association’s Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for the fifth time this season, league officials announced on Wednesday.
A native of Burlington, N.C., Adams has earned the league’s weekly award a total of five times this season. She has already been honored three times in the spring (Feb. 28, March 13 and March 27) and was recognized twice during the fall portion of UNCW's schedule (Sept. 19 and Oct. 10).
Adams was honored for the second time in three weeks after finishing in a tie for 14th place with a 77-74-76=227 scorecard in last weekend’s LSU Tiger Golf Classic at The University Club in Baton Rouge, La. The result was her sixth top 15 finish in eight events played during the 2012-13 campaign.
“I am really proud of how Lori Beth competed last week,” said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. “She's playing with so much confidence right now. The scoring conditions were very tough at LSU. The University Club is a demanding layout in the best of conditions but when you add wind, you really have to be mentally tough, be patient and have a strong game to score. Lori Beth played excellent golf against some of the nation’s best teams and demonstrated she is every bit as good.”
UNCW returns to action March 29-31 in the Bryan National Collegiate on the Champions Course of the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center in Greensboro.
