Seahawks Claim 12th At FSU Match-Up

TALLAHASSEE, Florida
- The UNCW women's golf team combined for a team-total 307 and claimed 12th
place as the Florida State Match-Up came to a close Sunday at the Southwood
Golf Club.
The Seahawks finished the event with a 54-hole total of 937 (323-307-307), five shots back of 11th-place UNC Greensboro (314-310-308=932). No. 16 Georgia posted the only under-par score of the day on Sunday, finishing with a one-under total of 287 to rally from an eight stroke deficit and claim the tournament title with a 290-300-287=877 scorecard. No. 6 Oklahoma took second with a tournament total of 881 (298-284-299) while No. 33 Tennessee claimed third with an 882 (291-299-292) result. Junior Lori Beth Adams posted a two-over-par 74 on Sunday to finish tied for 18th overall with a three-day total of 225 (79-72-74). Junior Jeanne Metivier carded a one-over 73 in the final round to earn a share of 31st with a 229 (81-755-73) tournament finish. Sophomores Mattie Tobey (80-78-77=235/T-49th) and Mallory Warrick (83-82-88=253/62nd) and junior Megan Burnham (87-84-83=254/63rd) completed UNCW's entry. Georgia's Rocio Sanchez Lobato (66-74-74=214) and Tennessee's Erica Popson (70-73-71=214) shared individual medalist honors as both players finished the tournament tied at two-under-par. Three players - Chirapat Jao-Javani of Oklahoma, Jessica Negron of Florida State and Laura Wearn of Furman - finished two strokes back of the duo in a three-way tie for third. UNCW returns to action March 8-10 in the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. |
