Seahawks In 11th Place At Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Kentucky - UNCW combined for a team-total 613 and sits in 11th place after the first two rounds of the Cardinal Cup Monday at the Cardinal Club Golf Course. Playing in rainy conditions, the Seahawks (303-310) are three shots back of 10th place Maryland (306-304=610) and just nine strokes off the pace of fifth-place Chattanooga (300-301=601). Host Louisville enters the final round with a five stroke lead after posting a 15-over-par 591 (294-297) on Monday. Cincinnati is in second with a 36-hole total of 596 (299-297) while Missouri (291-308) and Georgia State (307-292) are eight strokes back of the Cardinals in a tie for third at 599. Junior Lori Beth Adams is in 14th place with a two-round total of four-over-par 148 (73-75). Junior Laverry Kumar (75-75=150) and freshman Johanna Bjoerk (74-76=150) are two shots back of Adams, part of an eight-way tie for 18th at six-over-par. Senior Danielle Lamy (79-86=165/T-78th) and sophomore Mallory Warrick (85-90=175/87th) round out the Seahawks entry. Louisville's Emily Haas holds the individual lead with a six-under-par total of 138 (69-69) after firing a three-under-par 69 in both rounds Monday. Missouri's Taylor Gohn is five shots back of Haas in second place with one-under-par total of 143 (70-73). Annie Dulman (72-72=144) of Rollins College and Georgia State's Maria Palacios (75-69=144) are tied for third at even par. Final round action in the Cardinal Cup is scheduled to begin Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. |
