Women's Golf Preview: Cardinal Cup

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW women's golf team continues its fall schedule this week with an appearance in the Cardinal Cup at the Cardinal Club Golf Course in Smithville, Ky.
The 54-hole five-count-four tournament begins Monday with an 8:40 a.m. shotgun start and continues with the second round Monday afternoon. Tuesday's final round will feature a shotgun start scheduled for 8:40 a.m.

Joining the Seahawks in the 15-team field will be Akron, Bradley, Chattanooga, Charleston Southern, Cincinnati, East Tennessee State, Georgia State Illinois State, Maryland, Missouri, UNC Greensboro, Rollins College, host Louisville and fellow Colonial Athletic Association member James Madison. A total of 12 individuals will also be competing in the event.
Head Coach Cindy Ho will go with the same lineup that she used in the season-opening Terrier Intercollegiate a week ago, with senior Danielle Lamy, juniors Lori Beth Adams and Laverry Kumar, sophomore Mallory Warrick and freshman Johanna Bjoerk all back in the rotation.
UNCW opened the season with a third-place finish in the Terrier Intercollegiate, posting a two-day total of 602 (296-306), seven shots off the pace of tournament champion UNC Pembroke (301-294=595). Kumar finished tied for fourth with a 36-hole scorecard of 146 (72-74), earning her CAA Women's Golfer-of-the-Week accolades. Fellow junior Lori Beth Adams posted a six-over-par 148 (70-78) to earn a share of eighth.
UNCW returns to action Oct. 1-2 in the Windy City Classic at the Glenview Golf Club in Glenview, Ill.
